Me and a few of the guys from 4AG got together and really discussed some of the experiences we’ve had with Nissan Titans over the years and the types of issues we’ve ran into.
We all agreed that subwoofer additions were at one point in time a huge blank area, we just couldn’t find enclosures easily.
Once we found them and started to build them we realized that we needed to make some sense of what we learned for the average car audio customer. We sat on this idea for a while.
So we decided to make a list of the most affordable by performance enclosures while considering longevity and sound quality. All of the enclosures on this list were graded heavily on price, build quality and sound quality.
We have used or installed every enclosure and system on this list and we will disclose any problems we had during the install, we also threw in some of our professional technician tips to help you make a sound decision. The best subwoofer boxes for Nissan Titan’s was born!
1. Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s – ASC Dual 12 Inch Loaded Subwoofer Box
04-12 Nissan Titan King or Crew Cab
Enclosure style: Sealed (for punchy bass)
Construction: Premium MDF
Terminal Connection: 10 AWG terminal plugs
Aesthetics: High quality black automotive carpet wrap
Made By: ASC
The ASC Dual 12 Inch loaded Subwoofer Box tops our charts at Number one for a couple of reasons. The first being, it comes pre-loaded with subwoofers and push terminals for fast connecting and disconnecting of your speaker wires. The craft quality of this subwoofer box screams “we know what we’re doing”.
There are tons of low quality subwoofer boxes on the market and its really hard for first time buyers to sift through all of the poorly built car audio equipment.
After installing this unit in a Nissan Titan King cab (same as a crew cab) I was happy with the fitment and build quality and sound reproduction so we decided to kick off our ‘ Best Subwoofer Boxes for Nissan Titan’s ‘ list with the ASC dual subwoofer enclosure!
Subwoofer size: 12 inch
Impedance: 4 ohm
Peak power: 300 Watts
RMS (continuous power): 150 Watts
Sensitivity: 88.3
Frequency Response: 27-500 HZ
We were pretty surprised to find a loaded subwoofer enclosure for Nissan Titans that had been pre-loaded with pretty well preforming subwoofers pre installed. This isn’t generally the case, most enclosure building companies worry more about sales than creating happy customers.
These 12 inch kicker C12’s were a very good match for this enclosure, and its not easy finding the perfect subwoofer for a sub box without knowing what your doing. We’re talkin’ air space, mounting depth, porting or non porting.
Lets not forget you have to assure that these subwoofers preform exceptionally and fit into an enclosure that then fits under your seat!
We also think its worth mentioning that ASC is an authorized Kicker dealer. This means that if there are any problems with the kicker subs included in this package you are able to contact them to process any warranties that they can honor through kicker!
[ Best Subwoofer boxes for Nissan Titan’s ] – What Amplifier Do I Need For These Subwoofers?
Our general go-to amplifier for these subwoofers has always been the Kicker CXA 600 watt mono block amplifier for 2 reasons. The first being its size, It fits perfectly under the seat in your Nissan.
The second reason has everything to do with the power and frequency match up. The power handling level of this amp matches perfectly with the subwoofers this sub box comes loaded with.
2. Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s – ASC Dual 12 Inch Carpeted Subwoofer Enclosure
04-2015 Nissan Titan Crew Cab/King cab.
Aesthetics: Premium automotive carpeting.
Fitment: Fits two 12 inch subwoofers.
Cubic Air Space: 0.95 cubic ft.
Mounting depth: 5 3/4 inches
Mounting location: Under backseat (Down firing).
There aren’t too many differences between this sealed enclosure and number one on our list. In-fact there aren’t many at all, except for the exterior and the fact that there aren’t any subs included in this enclosure.
The obvious difference is the aesthetics of this enclosure, this box has a deep gray premium automotive wrap. While this is pretty obvious it does often go un-noticed when costumers pick out custom enclosures like this one.
When picking out subwoofers try and make sure you consider how it will look in your vehicle. Does the carpet around your box match your vehicles interior? Quality and aesthetics are the two most important things when choosing a subwoofer enclosure.
In terms of mounting, this enclosure is sized for a perfect fit under your rear seat. The speaker terminals point back for an even cleaner look as-well.
[ Best Subwoofer boxes for Nissan Titan’s ] – Recommended subwoofers For This Enclosure.
We did some research and looked at all of the specs on this sub box and found the best subwoofers for it. We considered bass reproduction, quality of sound and we payed special attention to air space.
All things considered, we recommend a pair of kicker 12 inch C124. They kick out a combined 300 Watts RMS and are perfectly rated for this sealed enclosure.
[ Best Subwoofer boxes for Nissan Titan’s ] – Recommended Amplifier For This Enclosure.
An amplifier for the subs we recommended quickly popped into my head from previous installations. The Kicker 43CXA600.1 mono block amplifier was made for these subs. You have 2 subwoofer outputs that run off of the same channel. This will make for a clean installation. But.. Boy is this sucker small!
We love how small it is. When trying to install a subwoofer box in a Nissan Titan you need all the room you can get. This amp saves so much needed room.
3. Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s – The Kicker Hideaway 11HS8
Size if Woofer: 8 inch
RMS power: 150 Watts
Dimension: 13 7/8 x 9 3/8 x 3 1/8
Weight: 13.23 pounds
The Kicker Hideaway has been on the market for a while now and we’ve used it in countless installs where bass was needed and space was limited.
We didn’t trust the powered enclosure market for a long time because of various low end brands that we will not name in this review, but the kicker completely changed our minds! We figured it would, i mean.. Kicker is a highly respected brand in this industry.
An 8 inch subwoofer producing quality bass in such a small enclosure was nearly unheard of for bass heads such as myself. Most of my customers wanted 12 to 15 inch subwoofers, and that’s still true till this day.
But there are a growing amount of customers who would like punchy, clear and even bass to go with what they currently have in there vehicle. They don’t need to rattle there vehicle and wake up the neighborhood.
This is where the Kicker Hideaway comes into play for the Nissan Titan! This unit is a self powered Subwoofer enclosure, meaning you do not need any amplifiers or or subwoofer boxes in addition to this package.
This has everything youll need packed into sleek easy mounting box. Starting to believe its good enough to be featured on the ‘ Best subwoofer boxes For Nissan Titans ‘ list right?
Kicker made the Hideaway to fit into small places and preform exceptionally well. My favorite place to mount this in the Nissan Titan would be under the drivers seat, it fits like a dream and the wires are able to be tucked cleanly and efficiently.
We have on occasion mounted this unit to the back wall behind the backseats but we don’t recommend that location without purchasing some sort of sound deadening materials due to the rattle youll get in that location.
If you would like any additional information on the Kicker Hideaway id encourage you to read our Official Kicker Hideaway review where we go a bit more in depth on some of the features.
4. Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s – JL Audio Stealth Box For Nissan Titan
Application: 2004 – 2007 Nissan Titans w/Crew Cab (Does not fit king cab)
Color: Graphite exterior with Titanium interior
Comes with: two 10W1v2-4 JL Audio Subwoofers
Mounting Location: Mounts under rear seat (Passenger)
Impedance: Final 2 ohm at speaker box terminals
Coming in at number 4 on our list of Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s is the JL audio Stealth Box, made specifically for the Nissan titan crew cab.
JL has been creating a beautiful line of Custom subwoofer enclosures, loaded and non loaded for a few years now.
I have been recommending pretty much everything they make from their amplifiers, subwoofers to their sound processors. They have yet to make a product i could ever call bad.
Support from customer service has always been spot on and they honor their warranties pretty well.
Lets talk “Stealth Box”. Well… the first thing that’s worth mentioning is the fact that this Subwoofer enclosure comes with 2 bottom firing JL Audio subwoofers Pre-Loaded for you and ready to go. That alone is a pretty big deal.
I figured you’d ask how this unit is so much different than number one in our list. Well threes a few reasons why, Ill explain.
[ Best Subwoofer boxes for Nissan Titan’s ] – What makes the JL Audio StealthBox Different From Other Enclosures?
wrapped with premium automotive carpeting that matches the Nissan Titans interior perfectly.
They built this enclosure to last! JL Audio used High quality fiber glass to build this box, youll notice this quality as soon as you put your hands on the enclosure. Fiber glass delivers rigidity that MDF cannot, and boy does it last longer.
The included 10 inch JL Audio subwoofers are literally made to preform perfectly with limited air space. You’ll get surprising bass for a system set up with such little air space!
The JL Audio StealthBox is extremely compact. This guy packs 2 10′ subwoofers while using less than half the space of our number one system above.
The craftsmanship destroys all competition. This compact sub enclosure is beautifully crafted and its obvious once you set these units side by side.
JL Audio gave the included subwoofers 300 watts RMS each. This means if powered correctly this system delivers twice the power than our number one system.
[ Best Subwoofer boxes for Nissan Titan’s ] – Where Does The StealthBox Lack?
If you so happen to blow out these subwoofers and your out of your 1 year warranty period you will be hard pressed to find replacements from another brand.
You would definitely need to buy a brand new set of subs that are the same brand and model. Versatility is a big deal in the audio world and this is one small aspect of versatility the JL Stealthbox lacks in.
Installing the Stealth Box Into Your Nissan Titan
First, check out the User manual. The user manual gives you a full instructional guide complete with pictures and additional options recommended for this system. Keep in mind that this enclosure will fit under your backseat (passenger side).
Be sure to clear out any debris or junk that might damage your system or make it difficult to mount it securely.
One of the things I like to do when I’m installing this unit is to run my speaker wire from my amplifiers location to the JL enclosure ahead of time.
Its just annoying having to re-mount the system if the wires aren’t ran properly. After that’s done I generally mount it and tuck my wires neatly and begin focusing on the amplifier installation. Which brings me to my next bit of information. The recommended amplifier to power this system.
What Amplifier Works With The Nissan Titan Stealth Box?
JL Audio actually makes an awesome amplifier that works perfectly with this enclosure. Its called the JL Audio 600/1. I’ve used the 500/1 that JL recommends but i realized that with the 600/1 I’m able to deliver more power to these subs efficiently and without over heating.
5. [Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s] – Alpine PWE-S8
Woofer Size: 8 Inch
True RMS power: 120
Freq Response: 25-125hz
Weight: 9.4 lbs
In Box: Remote, Installation manual, Harness, Mounting Brackets
Enclosure Height: 9 Inches
Enclosure Width: 13.5
Enclosure Depth: 3 Inches
Coming in last but not least at number 5 on the Top 5 Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s is the premium built Alpine Pwe-S8 in all its glory.
The Alpine PWE-S8 Comes in at number 5 for a couple of reasons, ill explain. In terms of sound quality we love it, Punchy bass and high quality bass notes… awesome.
While these are what one would assume a car audio geek would look for its just not always the case. We need bass, and at a measly 120 watts RMS this powered enclosure just doesn’t deliver enough bass for us.
I know what your thinking. Your asking “what if a customer just doesn’t need a lot of bass”? That’s a good question and your 100% correct for asking that question.
There are a growing amount of customers that would like nothing more than to add some low end to a system without blowing their windows to smithereens. This Alpine powered subwoofer enclosure would be perfect for that.
120 watts RMS isn’t as loud as i would like. However the sound quality from this sub is amazing, if you would like to add some low end or enhance some of the punchy bass in your current system this is one hell of a contender.
Alpine Pwe-S8 installation Into Nissan Titan
Due to the small size of this system your able to mount the Pwe-S8 under the drivers seat of your Nissan Titan with little to no work. We describe the installation in more depth in our official review of this system if you’d like to take a look.
After mounting your able to run the wires alongside the drivers floor molding by prying the molding up and tucking out of the way of any sharp edges or clips.
All of your wires are managed on the included wiring harness courtesy of Alpine Electronics in order to make your wiring work a bit cleaner and easier, but don’t forget to run your bass knob along with your wires so that everything is combined together.
The bass knob essentially does what all bass knobs do, it allows you to control the amount of bass you want ‘on-the-fly’ as you drive without taking your eyes off of the road.
Wiring Harness Issue
The one issue I have with this beautifully built powered amplifier subwoofer unit is the length of the power wires.
There have been very few instances where the alpine harness power wires reached the battery without adding on an additional power wire and speaker wire set.
This isn’t the only system with this problem, I find this to be an issue with a few other high end powered subwoofer enclosures.
You will more than likely need an extended set of wires to finish this job effectively. No matter, power wire sets are pretty cheap these days.
While this is a bit of a drawback its not a big enough problem to disqualify it from our ‘ Best Subwoofer Boxes For Nissan Titan’s ‘ list by a long shot!
This is the wire kit we use and we haven’t had any issues with it so far. It’s all oxygen free copper and the fuse holder is pretty sleek and easy to manage when running through the vehicles fire-wall.
I would pick up a set of speaker wires for the signal input as well, they give you about 3 ft on the harness at best.
That’s just not enough. But, keep in mind that if your adding this onto a vehicle that is currently running an aftermarket stereo you can just use the RCA wires that this kit comes with and disregard the additional speaker wires I suggested.
