The Pioneer TS-W3003D4 is one of the most affordable high performance subwoofer in its class. Its next to impossible to get this amount of bass and quality out of a subwoofer with a price tag like this.

The Pioneer champion pro series was intended by Pioneer to consist of a few different subwoofers of all different sizes from 8 to 15 inches, instead they sort of toned it down and released one subwoofer with a dual 4 ohm voice coil.

It didn’t make sense to me in the beginning but as time went we realized that you don’t have to produce a lot of different verities of subwoofers if you can make one subwoofer that fits a verity of listeners.

This sub has proven that for me time and time again. Iv’e heard customers and fellow car audio geeks compare these subs (when properly powered) to the newer generation of Alpine Type R’s.

Anyone who knows about the type R’s will tell you that they are a force to reckon with. So without further rambling lets kick off the Pioneer Champion Series Pro 12 Review.

As i mentioned earlier, the RMS power rating for the Pioneer Champion series 12 is 600 watts. This has been said to be an underrated wattage level by a lot of other installers and a few customers as well.

Some have pushed 1000 watts RMS to this system without any problems and swear by that wattage level.

I looked around to find a video that would show this subwoofer performing at its full power rating. Before you watch the video remember that your Pioneer Champion series Pro 12 inch sub does’nt have to rattle your truck, your amplifier can be set to a more conservative or moderate level.

In its class it is considered one of the great’s. After installing a couple of these subs it really makes sense why, 600 Watts RMS and exceptional build quality.

To help create a visual ill say this, 800 watts of power to a pretty good sub will tend to shake panels in your vehicle which causes a rattle noise.

Now obviously you don’t have to turn your bass up that high, but its comforting to know you can turn heads with the power of this sub, The 600 watt power rating is backed by a premium built basket and surround also. For me, as an installer this means harder bass hits if powered correctly and it did just that.

This is usually an area I tend to pay more attention to especially with 12 inch subwoofers, I need the subs I install to hit the snappy bass kicks in a song quickly and clearly. The double layered surround is one of the things that allows that to be possible.

One thing I think is important when looking for a sub is considering the amount of bass you’d like to have.

Remember if 800 Watts RMS will shake and rattle your trunk you can expect 600 watts to do the same thing when being pushed from a premium subwoofer like this.

The big question when it comes to pretty much any audio system add-on has always been how dependable it might be.

Subwoofers have a tendency to blow out both because of the user and the manner in which it might have been installed. That being said, the Pioneer Champion Series Pro 12 was built for dependability and longevity.

The Pioneer Champion Series Pro 12 inch subwoofer has been said to last between 2 and 5 years if powered properly and installed correctly.

I’m sure pioneer has learned how to build long lasting products over the years, I cant remember the last time a Pioneer audio product failed on one of my customers.

All things considered, I believe a lot of the dependability has to do with the build quality that I mentioned earlier.

Reinforcing the basket, using new dual spider technology and adding a new magnet to the new champion series subs really took this sub to the top of its class!
