Alpine PDX F6 Review – Aided with class D amplifier technology the Alpine PDX F6 is packed with tremendous power. It is the largest among the four-channel amplifiers, the smaller one being PFX F4 and the other two are mono-block variants of it.

All the amplifiers in the PDX range from Alpine are the same in size (exterior measurement) so that all could be easily stacked vertically on one another. This allows you to have multiple amps that too in a smaller space.

Its STAR topology, in which the STAR stands for Signal Transit for Accurate Response circuit PCB design enables a single common ground for all amplifier sub-blocks which will prevent any sort of ground interference and minimizes all internal noises.

To protect the amplifier from heat or at times when it has become too hot, the Thermal Protection circuit will start functioning automatically, it will start decreasing the output power until the amplifier cools down.

With an approximate footprint of 8” to 10” the amplifier can easily fit into any hatchback, trunk cab or any other vehicle with limited space also.

The amplifier is capable of delivering 150 watts per channel to your speaker system and if you want you can also switch to a 2 channel mode and drive a couple of subs each with 300 watts.

The amplifier provides you with excellent flexibility in terms of multiple speakers and sub-woofer loads because it is stable at low impedances and is highly capable of its rated power from 2-4 ohms.

With a frequency range from 5Hz to 100KHz, you are guaranteed to receive unparalleled sound quality. Apart from this, with a Damping Factor of >500, it provides ultra-low output impedance, which delivers extremely controlled and tight bass for superior sound quality.

The PDX F6 is also capable of S/N ratios up to 96dB S/N and 118dB S/N at rated power to deliver very clean and uncoloured sound.

With all controls present at the front, the post-installation becomes very easy, even when many amplifiers are stacked together. With its removable nifty speaker and power wire plugs, you can easily either install or remove the amplifier, all of this while ensuring a tight connection with a guarantee that the speakers work in unison.

The power management processor controls everything in the amplifier from its performance capability to monitoring voltage, temperature and output and ensures uninterrupted power output which works very well especially during non-stop listening.

Its gold-plated RCA outputs, inputs and other power connections protect it from corrosion and signal degradation.

The class D amplifiers present in the PDX F6 combine all MOSFET power supplies, MOSFET final output with a thermal management processor. All this coupled with a 6-layer Glass Epoxy PC Board, creates a very high quality sound output without any bulky heat sinks.

The PDX F6 is also very quiet between passages without any hiss or class D buzzing to interfere with your listening experience.

Installation Tips

The owner’s manual will provide you with very detailed step-by-step instructions on how to install your new PDX F6 amplifier with ease.

For convenience, all the wires for input and output are present only on one side of the amplifier.

The PDX F6 contains four quick connect high power speaker terminals and with its quick connect plugs you can easily attach any system’s speaker cables to the amplifier.

Is also equipped with four gold-plated female RCA jacks.
