Use this calculator to find out what type of capacitor you will need to use in order to create the frequency response you’ll need for your tweeters.
Tweeter Capacitor Calculator
Enter the desired frequency cut-off range and the impedance of your tweeter driver to calculate the recommended capacitor value:
Calculator Instructions
Please note that this calculator assumes a simple first-order high-pass filter, which consists of a capacitor in series with the tweeter driver. This type of filter has a slope of 6 dB per octave.
To use this calculator, follow the steps below:
- Determine the desired frequency cut-off range for your tweeter. This is the point at which you want the filter to start attenuating the signal.
- Enter the desired frequency cut-off range in Hertz (Hz) in the first input box.
- Enter the impedance of your tweeter driver in ohms in the second input box.
- Click the “Calculate” button to see the recommended capacitor value in microfarads (μF) needed to achieve the desired frequency cut-off range.
