Will I still Have My Bose, Onstar and Steering wheel Controls?
If you have Bose and/or Onstar the harness I recommended above for your Chevy Silverado stereo installation will retain both of those options very simply, I use this harness at-least once a day on GM vehicles and it hasn’t failed me yet! Another cool thing about this harness is that it can retain your steering wheel controls by simply flipping a switch to the corresponding number on the harness that matches the radios brand.
Will I Still Have My Rear Seat Entertainment After the Install?
If you have rear seat entertainment (rear DVD screen) you may keep it or choose to void it. There are two separate wire harness’s that retain this option, one is for Bose amplified or non Bose but still factory amplified and the other harness is for non amplified systems. The above listed dash kit and antenna adapter must still be purchased for the installation.
Bose amplified or non Bose bit still factory amplified amplified: Amplified Harness
Non Bose and non amplified systems (no stock amplifier): Non Amplified Harness
The are a couple things to make note of if you are using either one of these rear seat entertainment harnesses for your Chevy Silverado stereo installation.
The first thing to make note of is that if your looking to retain your steering wheel controls the rear seat entertainment harnesses do not come with a built in steering wheel control module, you will have to purchase the steering wheel control interface separately. The good news is that it plugs right into the the harness without any additional wiring!
Speaker Fitment on 2003-07 Chevy Silverado
After your Chevy Silverado stereo installation you might want to upgrade your factory speakers, I’ve created a guide that allows you to find the speaker sizes in order for you to purchase the best speakers for your vehicle without having to modify your door panels. One thing to make note of is the Bose optional package, If you have Bose and you wish to replace your speakers you have to remove the Bose amplifier and install an aftermarket radio.
