[voice coil cooling system] – Is one of the best features of Sundown’s SA series subwoofers. The magnet has cooling holes at the very bottom that allow for the 2.5 inch magnet to preform just as well as a driver with a 3 inch magnet while maintaining the same voice coil size.
This allows you to get the most air movement in almost every subwoofer enclosure you put this subwoofer into.
[Our Professional Opinion] – Sundown Audio SA 12 D4 REV.3 Review
Sundown Audio is among only a hand full of car audio brands that allow you to create both high quality everyday listening bass systems and competition SPL set-ups both for the price and with such attention to detail.
These subs take almost anything you throw at them, with a dual 4 ohm voice coil you can bridge them to 1ohm allowing 1000 watts RMS.
That amount of power allows you to go from an everyday bass system to an entry level competition system quickly.
An example of its high end technology at work would be the 8 inch SA’s limitations with sealed enclosures.
Sundown has said many times that the 8 Inch SA series subwoofers are not meant for sealed enclosures, they fear that the sub will not be able to discard the necessary amount of air to work properly. Yet, I’ve continuously seen these subs in sealed boxes last for years and years.
