Vantrue N2 Pro Review – Uber, Lyft and Taxi drivers across the globe are finding it essential to have a dashcam installed in their vehicles. The normal driver also wants to capture footage of all kinds of events. With so many dash cam options available, choosing the best one can be an uphill battle. Enter the Vantrue N2 Pro, an ideal dash cam for Taxis, Uber, Lyft and everyday Drivers.
The Vantrue N2 Pro consists of front and rear (interior) facing cameras, both recording high definition video.
Audio can also be captured by the device and you can choose to turn this function off. The camera functions at temperatures between -4° and 158° Fahrenheit. The front camera facing the road has a 170° wide angle lens and contains the OV4689 sensor.
It records 30 frames per second at 2560x1440P; alternatively, you can set it to 60 frames per second with a resolution of 1920x1080P but this deactivates the interior camera.
The rear camera faces into the vehicle and boasts a 140° wide lens. Additionally, the interior camera has an 80° rotation spectrum to adjust the recording.
It will capture the vehicle’s interior, passengers and some of the roads, including the use of infrared technology. The Sony Exmor IMX323 sensor works well and provides 30 frames per second at 1920x1080P.
The Vantrue N2 Pro features automated or loop recording, time lapse and stamping, and a G sensor. Loops can be recorded in intervals of 1, 3 or 5 minutes but this wal record over previous footage.
If the G Sensor activates it will prevent the recording of another clip and save the footage for later use.
A panic button is available on the screen of the camera and is a handy feature in cases of emergency. The camera will snap a picture of what it is seeing and save it without the possibility of being overwritten.
A microSD card with maximum 256GB can be used in the camera. Additional buttons are used to navigate among the menus, but the screen is a bit small at only 1.5”.
A standard 18-month warranty is applied to the Vantrue N2 Pro. Reports indicate customer service of exceptional quality and a fast response to queries.
Performance
The Vantrue N2 Pro provides remarkable quality video and audio. It captures clear images during the day and at night. It is one of the few dash cams which uses infrared night vision to accurately capture the car interior at night. Footage is not blurry, and time stamped photos can be used effectively.
The LCD screen shows bright images and the camera is easy to use. The LCD screen can be switched off at the touch of a button, removing the distraction of a glaring screen. This is very helpful during the night and dims the car but still continues recording at a decent quality.
The Vantrue N2 Pro has many options for recording making it perform well under various circumstances. Timed shots, 1-minute intervals and time stamping gives an accurate representation of everything that can be seen.
The performance and quality of this camera stands out above similar devices on the market. The only negative is that similar products already have Wi-Fi or apps to make usage easier. In all other aspects the Vantrue N2 Pro outperforms its competitors.
Other uses for the dash cam
Taxi drivers will find the features of the Vantrue N2 Pro valuable as it can be given as evidence for any lawsuits. The clear video quality and additional audio can prove innocence in the case of an accident or collision.
The snapshot features allow accurate data to be gathered and stores it in a separate folder which cannot be overwritten.
The camera can act as a surveillance system from within the car but it will require an external battery to stay on.
This is beneficial when your car is being stored for a longer time. It can record any movement around the vehicle and answer questions when there is damage to your car.
The Vantrue N2 Pro contains a motion sensor, which can be activated for extra coverage. When the car is parked, the camera will automatically start recording if the sensor detects even the smallest movements.
What is included?
Right out of the box youll find the Vantrue N2 Pro dashcam, a 10-foot cable for in-car charging, and a suction cup to mount the device.
It is easy to set up the camera but care must be taken to not obstruct the view of either camera. Some people have experienced the suction cup coming loose from the windscreen. The device is also larger than similar devices making it difficult to place it in an obscure position.
The user manual provides clear instructions on how to operate the device. A 3foot mini USB data cable is included to transfer data from the device to a computer.
Footage cannot be transferred in any other means as the device is not compatible with Wi-Fi and no device app exists.
A built-in GPS does not form part of the Vantrue N2 Pro package but an additional bracket can be purchased to easily accommodate a GPS.
Any problems with brackets or attachments can be reported to customer service who will replace such items.
At high speeds and on bumpy roads the Vantrue N2 Pro is still a good product. Some of the parts may seem to rattle and ball joints could come loose slightly. Ensure your dash cam is secured well before each trip you do for optimal performance.
People are concerned with their privacy and do not necessarily want to be recorded. Display a sign in the vehicle to mention that a dash cam is being used and the reasons for recording the drive.
The Vantrue N2 Pro is a dash cam worth buying for daily use. It is a sensible purchase for any Uber or Lyft driver and will record clear footage to be utilized in disputes.
The private driver may opt for the Vantrue N2 Pro if he wants a solid camera, but smaller options may be more sensible.
